Report from the team that worked at the
Women’s Refuge in Columbia, South America

by Donna Robart

June 2006

As for the trip: so much happened outside of "the box" that I believe that our Lord had this all planned to bless me (Donna), too. People are broken and poured out from the church crisis there....and I had chances to hear them and facilitate some groups and lead some to going to the doctor/s, and of course, to surrender. Quite a wonderful time, plus, we had a barbecue on the top of a cliff overlooking the ocean from the patio around a pool at a beautiful house, PLUS, all of us got invited to a dinner at a very posh home of some Arab Catholics, whom we witnessed to............so much fun. However, I had to rebuke some others at the Refuge, which was not fun. But, I had the privilege to speak to 20 women about "humility" and then I confessed that I was not completely "done" yet. And I'm not. There's still so much more to unravel in me.

Sue worked in the yard like a regular Colombian.....in the heat and all, plus, she counseled with their house manager a lot.
Karen arrived a few days before we left and her presence helped alleviate the pain that Margit was experiencing about our departure. They were going to follow up with more counseling and teaching after we left.

As for Ted and Brian, the work they did was stupendous! They and the other 2 guys put in running water for the first time at the Refuge, and they built a concrete block (12 x 12) counseling office away from the house (BIG DEAL) , redid the electrical system completely all over, started building another bathroom in another location behind the main house, installed a kitchen sink outside on the porch, put in water lines to their outside washing stand (under a shed), painted the entrance, weeded the gardens, spruced up the yards, and generally brought life to the Refuge. The men's program (Canaan) sent 6 guys over every day to help, so the Lord brought unity in ministering to one another. It was awesome.........and hot........and tiring, but very rewarding. PTL.

We love you all so much. Wish that you could experience the joy we did in Colombia, but then we don't get to experience your joy with all of you either........in your walks with the Lord.

Counseling office Ted & Brian along with 2 others built at the Women’s Refuge in Columbia, South America.

Building completed when team left after only 1 week
